1936 Homestead - This rustic farmhouse has been home to several families over the years. It sits at the high point on the ridge, and overlooks the back of the property, with a pretty view across the Ozark Mountains. State Highway A is only 10 miles long, connecting several gravel county roads. It is only used by folks that live out this way. For the most part you'll see a couple of neighbors, the school bus and mail delivery. It is very rural, no restrictions, very private. It is within five miles of thousands of acres of Mark Twain National Forest and the National Scenic Gladetop Trail, made famous for viewing the fall foliage. Also close to the Missouri Conservation Area that was used to help reintroduce wild turkey to this part of Missouri in the 1950's. A few years ago someone cleared the back acreage to create more pasture and worked on the three ponds to make them overflow one to the next, to the next, down the draw. (We are experiencing a drought right now, so there is no water in any of the ponds.) The Hay Barn is in good shape, could be enclosed if someone wanted to make it for more than Hay. The property is fenced and cross fenced, with a couple of chicken coups in the yard behind the house. The old storm shelter has a nice metal building attached that could maybe a smoke house with a little effort. The house has a ventless propane heater in the kitchen, and a pad for a wood stove in the living room. The wood stove pictured is not staying. There are two small rooms off the living room that have been used as bedrooms, but there is just one small closet. There is another room with an exterior door off the living room that could be used as a bedroom, but there is no closet. There is also a loft room above that room. The bathroom/utility room/laundry is off the kitchen at the back of the house. A get away property that could be turned into your own Ozark Mountain Homestead.
